Last.fm Trends: Beck, Metric And Stones In Battle Of The Bands
One of the summer’s biggest hits is just about ready to drop. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is in theaters tomorrow, boasting an epic cast, an epic story and – even better – an epic soundtrack.
Last.fm Trends took a look at which of the groups on the playlist wins in a battle of the bands showdown, and run down the top seven after the jump…
It’s a stellar line-up: Beck; Black Francis; Metric; Broken Social Scene; indie-rock legends one and all. But with such an array of talent on the soundtrack we had to see who’d come out on top.
Black Lips just creep in to the top seven (one for each of the movie’s villains), a little behind British upstarts Blood Red Shoes, each of whom have over four million scrobbles to date. T. Rex round out the bottom half of the charts with 8,178,926 scrobbles.
At four we’ve got Metric, inspiration for one of the film’s bands The Clash At Demonhead, while the Canadian supergroup they’re close to, Broken Social Scene, sneak into third place. With 55,709,577 scrobbles the number two spot is scooped up by Beck, but in at number one it’s eternal rock legends The Rolling Stones, who have 61,984,368 scrobbles from 2,139,164 listeners.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Sex Bob-omb too. The fictional band are brought to life on the soundtrack by Beck and will be skyrocketing up the scrobble chart in no time.
