22-20s

22-20s return after a somewhat surprising break-up, which followed the release of their self-titled debut album and the tour to support it. The comeback second album Shake/Shiver/Moan was released this past June in the U.S., and during a NYC stop to play a show in Brooklyn, the band came by the Last.fm Discover studio for a performance and a chat, filling us in on what actually happened.

Click through for the exclusive in-studio performances of “Shake, Shiver And Moan,” “Talk To Me,” “Ocean” and Bitter Pills” with Martin Trimble, Dan Hare and James Irving and then the interview with Glen Bartup and Martin.

It was a disappearance that puzzled us. Their reappearance, however, couldn’t be more welcomed. After taking a “break” and re-grouping, 22-20s are back with their sophomore album, which easily, to Last.fm Discover‘s ears, is one of the best of 2010. As much as we anticipated their performance, it was the answers to questions about what happened, where did everyone go, and what brought them back together that intrigued us the most. I think we needed that break to realize we wanted to be in this band.
Martin Trimble

22-20′s are currently touring the U.S. supporting our other Artist Of The Week this week, Hot Hot Heat. The tour will run through September 21, 2010. Go out and see them. It’ll be a great way to go back to the earlier songs and get introduced to a brilliant, long overdue follow-up. To read more about Last.fm Discover: www.lastfmdiscover.com

When did Dan Hare join?

Was there any fear of the old bluesy-rock sound creeping in as you made the new album, since you wanted to get away from that?

Was the Heavenly Records gig in Sept. ’08 the first time the band worked together again?
