Weakest line-up I’ve ever. Bad Religion is the only band worth a crap on this bill. Come on Live105… get it together.

So True! Come on now! BFD just keeps getting weaker and weaker.

April 18, 2011 12:33 pm
Thank you! Glad to see people who have gone to the past ones see this BFD for what it really is. SO weak compared to even 2009s…I though 2010 was bad but common..Only bands I would like to see are the Strokes and Cage, and Bad religion ..all I have already seen though.

It’s not easy pleasing the corporate executives AND sincere music listeners. Corporate profit motive loves lowest common denominators. Good bands are few and far between.
Listening to various 2011 BFD bands online today for the first time, it’s surprising how derivative most of these bands are. There’s nothing wrong with having influences, but without imparting some emotion into it (as Nirvana, The Strokes, Bad Religion, etc. have done), we’re left with tiring exercises in plagiarism. It’s OK for the youngest among us who may not be aware of the originals, but for the more well-informed it’s simply a disappointing bore.

Wow. I am the opposite. The Prodigy had a poor performance, and Linkin Park rocked so hard I tranced. Can’t wait for this performance. Also looking forward to all these bands that are totally new to me (OK, must get out more…)

On a Sunday again???? Really! Just goes to show that since No Name started the station is going downhill…I was really hoping the switch last year was a temporary thing so I took Monday off. People usually have to work Mondays and I really don’t see why they wouldn’t stick to Saturday. Lineup is pretty week though so well see…this may be the first time in 6 years I don’t attend.

How does this work? Won’t we miss bands while trying to watch the others? I’ve never been to BFD before so I don’t understand the whole different stage thing. If I want to watch Bad Religion play does that mean I’ll have to miss The Tenderlions because they’re at a different stage? And what about people who pay more $$$ for seats? What happens?
Or are we given time to switch to different stages?
mindy
April 19, 2011 3:33 pm
Molly,
There are four stages, with some overlapping set times, as you’d find at many other music festivals. This means that you’ll have to pick and choose the bands you want to see most, or decide to see the part of one band’s set and the second half of another’s. It tends to work out well, since there are so many bands to check out. You’ll definitely get to hear lots of music! The festival stage should wrap up in time for you to see all of the bands on the main stage. The seats are for the main stage, which features Linkin Park, Snoop Dogg, Cage the Elephant, and The Strokes.
JustinB
April 19, 2011 8:41 pm
The people who pay extra for seats just sit closer to the stage than those who bought lawn tickets do – they can come and go to and from the mainstage as they please. There are no seats for any of the other stages.
Subsonic tent will run all day, but the mainstage acts never overlap with the festival stage and the local band stage usually wraps up right before or right after mainstage acts start.
So basically for the first part of the day you’ll be able to choose between Local Band Stage, Subsonic Tent, and Festival Stage, and for the second part of the day you’ll be able to choose between Subsonic Tent and mainstage.

what’s the difference between reserved and lawn?
Rabbit
April 22, 2011 5:13 pm
Reserved tickets are seats located in the 100 or 200 section. Lawn tickets are on the lawn. Check out Shorline’s set up here: http://www.livenation.com/seatingchart/229414/32890 The lawn is much bigger then it appears in the seating chart.

why the f**k is snoop dog on the main stage at bfd, or even AT bfd, the concert put on by a so called alternative rock radio station. get close your eyes, senses fail, story of the year, hell even all that remains, and architects would be better than seeing cage the elephant and snoop dog. i hate how livE 105 picks up all these new artists with ONE catchy tune and won’t stop playing them to save their lives, and even has gone to playing rap and reggae. come on. disappointment smh

Radio pre-sale? What a joke! I was on it at 10:00 sharp. First try came up with back of section 202, 2nd back of 204, third on the lawn. I drove down to Shoreline and got into section 101 row P (still pretty sucky, last year I was in row J) using my Mountain View resident status. Can’t you guys do better for the hardcore fans?
Jared
April 21, 2011 12:53 pm
Agreed!!!
kim
April 21, 2011 5:26 pm
agreed. im a teacher so i was at work and couldn’t drive down. plus i live almost 90 minutes away. my first attempt at 10am was section 200 row u. faaaaar right and in the very back by the lawn? tried again at my kids recess and lunch, 13 more times to be exact and the best i got from that was section 203 row B. f that! wtf is the point of a presale?
Mark
April 22, 2011 1:59 pm
Kim,
you couldn’t have bought tickets at Shoreline anyway. The pre-sale at the venue was for Mountain View residents only.
I found out that the reason I couldn’t get into section 101 row J is that they only had six seats in that row reserved for residents.
Marcelle
April 21, 2011 1:06 pm
Is there a pit to stand in front of the stage, or is all the general admission out back in the lawn?

AND are the 10.53 tickets for the lawn or for any seat? Please let me know before tomorrow!
mindy
April 22, 2011 12:59 pm
Nelson – $10.53 tix are lawn tix.
mindy
April 22, 2011 3:23 pm
Nelson, both kinds of tickets get you access to all of the stages. The difference: reserved seat tickets get you assigned seats for the main stage. Lawn tickets let you sit on the lawn for the main stage. Festival stage, Subsonic Tent and Local band stage are all standing room only. See the main stage seating chart here:

No, you do not have to be a Freeloader (but it’s recommended!). The $10.53 ticket is only available for purchase at Shoreline Amphitheater at 10AM, Saturday April 23. There is a limited number of tickets at this price.

Okay, is it just me that is COMPLETELY perturbed by the $9.30 service charge PER TICKET? They make a big deal about pointing out that the lawn 4 pack is only 105 bucks… BS!!!! When all is said & done its freakin $142.20 quite a big difference from $105.00, just soooo irritated right now. I REALLY want to go, but if you try to skip the service charge & drive down to Shoreline you still have a $6.00 service charge per ticket Mon-Fri. I’M SO TORN!!! Can anyone even tell me what these freakin service charges are for? We don’t even get actual tickets anymore, there print outs, so WTF is the $9.30 for?

There is no service charge at the Shoreline box office every Saturday 10am-2pm.

Sucks that I didnt get my $10.53 ticket. I came so close to getting it but the security cut us off and told us there was no more. I had to pay $39.50 for a lawn ticket. Im so excited to go to the show! The only thing that I’ve noticed and I think is pretty stupid is that the show is on a Sunday…again! WTF is up with that??? The majority of us listeners have to go to work the next day. We dont want to go to work hungover the next day! Also, they could have added The Black Keys to the line up

I’ve never been to one of these before, if you buy lawn tickets will you be able to get to the front of the Festival stage?

Almond,
The lawn tickets get you access to the lawn section behind the seated area for the Main Stage (no pit in front). For the rest of the stages, it is standing room only with either ticket, so you have the opportunity to get to the front of the stage for Subsonic Tent, festival stage and local band stage.

Dude if you only like bad religion on this you’re listening to the wrong station. This is alternative rock, hence all the more interesting bands rather than the hard rock/grunge.

Smokes –
We’ll post a schedule of the bands on each stage once we get closer to festival time. The stages overlap, so there will be some bands you have to pick and choose. But the Festival stage will end before the Main stage starts, so you can see all of those bands.

Why does it have 4-pack lawn listed if you cant buy them. There is no such deal coming up when i try to buy tickets and it doesnt say limited supply.

May 10, 2011 3:48 pm
The BFD 4-pack of tickets is now sold out. Single tickets are still available.
andreas
May 10, 2011 3:12 pm
How do you buy the 4 pack lawn: $105 (that’s $26.25 per ticket)? It seems that you can only buy the 40 or 60 dollars tickets at stubhub and live nation dot com.

Morrissey was right, there is no justice in this world. If there was, THE STROKES would headline this gig (as evidenced by Live 105′s own poll showing THE STROKES as the top choice with 32.94% of votes.)
Thanks for re-posting Morrissey’s perspective on new group Young the Giant. They sound quite sincere and evocative. Now I can look forward to more than just THE STROKES, BAD RELIGION, and SNOOP.
I have never understood LINKIN PARK. Payola, perhaps? (Aren’t they a bit thick? I guess my favourite bands aren’t for everyone either.)

My mistake, I had no idea this starts so late. I would love to see LP but they’re not even scheduled to take the stage until 9:30? On a school night? My teenager has finals the next day. With gas so expensive and $40 parking we will probably just burn the $142. My mistake, my bad.
