Yes, the current state of the Bay Area Music scene is unquestionably thriving at the moment, arguably the strongest its been in years, and is saturated with many promising acts, including GEOGRAPHER, THE HOLDUP, MUSIC FOR ANIMALS, THE LIMOUSINES, AB & THE SEA, WALLPAPER, SET YOUR GOALS, THE FRESH AND ONLYS, THE HUNDRED DAYS and numerous others… Oakland’s KREAYSHAWN, who recently landed a reported million dollar contract with Sony Music and is currently working with the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS on their new music video, was more-or-less the impetus for this particular blog, coupled with the recent influx of fantastic female-fronted acts we’ve been playing on RADIO SOUNDCHECK, as we at LIVE 105 pay tribute to the GIRLS of the Bay Area rock landscape!

favorite local venue to play: the independent. i can walk from my apartment to the door in 5 minutes. it is freaking amazing.

favorite non-Bay Area city to play in: new york city
5 must have items on your hospitality rider: water, deli meat, tortilla chips, granola bars, & wheat bread. basically i am a third grader who needs lunch.
first concert you ever attended: i’m actually not sure! does that make me less credible as a human? it think it was something at ravinia, this outdoor summer concert series in chicago. my best guess is a mutant version of the beach boys.
most underrated band of all-time: ok go
most embarrassing on-stage moment: hmmmm. i have no shame. sooooo
planking: stupid as f*ck or the best zany trend since the flash mob craze: EFFECTIVE ABDOMINAL EXERCISE
finally, the all-time, most influential and #1 female music icon award goes to….. oh man that’s a hard one. i’m going with dusty springfield.
