Berkeley Indie Lable Lookout! Records Closes!

Indie label Lookout! Records based in Berkeley has shut down all operation! Releasing albums from punk rock bands out of the Bay Area such as Green Day, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Screeching Weasel and Fifteen!The Berkeley based label has finally called it quits on their entire enterprise. Being the first label to sign local Bay Area punk rock icons Green Day, and releasing the bands first two full length albums 1990′s 39/Smooth and 1992′s Kerplunk.
Lookout! Records also released music from major label artist The Donnas as well. The label was founded in 1987 and stopped releasing new music in 2006. Now the label has stopped all business.
According to NME.com, former Lookout! Records artist Ted Leo announced the shut down of the label on his website Tedleo.com. Saying:
“Our beloved Lookout! Records, which ceased releasing new material in 2006, but carried on keeping the catalog in print until this past December, has, sadly, shuttered its windows for good.”
