R.I.P. Gorillaz?

107638926 R.I.P. Gorillaz? Is this really it? Was “DoYaThing” really the last thing we’ll see of Gorillaz? Well if Damon Albarn is to be believed, that unfortunately seems to be the case. Damon Albarn recently revealed in an interview with The Guardian that he thinks that it’s “unlikely” that we will see more of Gorillaz. This seems to stem from his crumbling relations with his collaborator Jamie Hewlett, who designed the members of Gorillaz and helped give the band the unique art style we know and love. This seemed to reach a peak with the tour supporting Gorillaz‘s third album Plastic Beach, where Jamie‘s art wasn’t as prominent and there was more focus on the music than the visuals. Albarn said, “the music and the videos weren’t working as well together, but I felt we’d made a really good record, and I was into it. So we went and played it.” It seems that the two are refusing to talk to each other, so let’s hope for the sake of all Gorillaz fans that time heals all wounds and that this wound has a speedy recovery. But fans of the Blur frontman don’t fret because Damon Albarn refuses to take a break, as he has a bunch of projects that he’s working on that’ll take up his time. For example he has Blur‘s performance at the 2012 Olympics and the release of the the soundtrack to his second opera Dr. Dee on May 5th. As a reminder to what we have lost, the band’s first video “Clint Eastwood” is posted below. How bummed are you guys? Sound off in the comments below.
