While hanging out at BFD 2012, New Zealand’s The Naked and Famous told No Name that they get fired up at festivals by watching other bands. Specifically, they seem to see their friends from GroupLove a lot.

Thom Powers explained, “On every single festival we’ve done it’s like we are either next door to each other in dressing rooms or we’re bumping into each other or on stage next to each other.”

Thom Powers then relayed the story of a prank played on the sister of The Naked and Famous’ bass player David Beadle because GroupLove’s Andrew Wessen and David look like they could be twins. She was backstage at the show and Andrew and David pulled a quick switch of clothes.

“Just turn around and give her a big hug. Just go in for it. She comes back in and they go like this close. She screamed and panicked and ran out. It was just like awesome.”

The doppelganger fun for the two bands is now over as David has grown facial hair.

“Now David has this monstrous beard that he’s immensely proud of. If you watch us play – please just yell out. Cheer for his beard. He feels like such a grown up.”

Alisa Xayalith defended David’s beard: “I think he looks very handsome with the beard. I like it.”

The Naked and Famous album Passive Me, Aggressive You is out now and available at itunes. Get info on the band at www.thenakedandfamous.com
