Muse Get Moody In ‘Madness’ Music Video

British power-pomp rockers Muse have revealed a moody and atmospheric music video for “Madness,” the second single from the band’s much–anticipated sixth studio album, 2nd Law, now set for release on October 2.

The cinematic and colorfully rich clip is set in an underground train station, where a leggy model wanders around casually smoking while a riot breaks out and the band plays on. The song generated some controversy for its heavy electronic elements, causing some to suggest that Muse had “gone dubstep.”

“I wrote that song having a fight with my girlfriend,” Muse frontman Matt Bellamy told KROQ’s Stryker during a recent interview. “Nothing particularly over the top, but just having one of those moments where she leaves you for the day to think about it. I rarely write songs that catharticly. All I had was a drum machine and a synthesizer, so I just put this very minimal thing together.”

Always the ambitious sort, Bellamy recently dished to Q magazine his dream of Muse having a “huge, zeppelin-shaped UFO” to land at a future show. “I’ve been trying for years, but no one will let us.”
