Some say that life experiences are best put into a song.
In the spring of 2006, The Airborne Toxic Event’s front man Mikel Jollet experienced a series of personal tragedies so he decided to pick up a guitar and write about them. Fast forward a few months later, with the help of a few friends The Airborne Toxic Event was a band and by October 2006 the band played their first show, receiving a ton of great feedback.
Still by 2007 the band was unsigned and making major moves. The band’s first major single Sometime Around Midnight was quickly added into few radio stations playlists (LIVE 105 was one of the first five stations that did).
And by August they were signed and released a debut self titled album. The album was a success and was named by a ton of publication “The Debut Album of Year.” After a successful tour, and the band recorded and released the second album, “All At Once” in 2011. The band was featured at SXSW with a special showcase at Stubbs’ and set off on a tour. A few tracks off the album made it onto TV and movie soundtracks.
Currently the band just released their third studio album, Such Hot Blood, on April 30th . The first single “Timeless” can be heard currently on Live 105.
