Community Connection With Liz Saint John 03.02.2014

Liz Saint John interviews three guests every Sunday morning covering a variety of issues and topics. She talks with representatives from Bay Area non-profit organizations, documentary filmmakers, authors, and professors.

1. Masashi Niwano, Director of  CAAMFest 2014, talks about the 120 films from 20 different countries that will be screened in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. He also talks about the special events with filmmaker sand actors, the music showcase, and the opening night gala.

2. Matthew Quick, the author of the best-selling Silver Linings Playbook, talks about his new novel The Good Luck of Right Now. He explains why he often uses characters from, what he calls, the mental health community, to show life through a different lens.

3. Berkeley filmmaker Jason Cohen talks about his Academy Award-nominated short documentary Facing Fear, the story of a neo-Nazi teen who beats a gay homeless teen on the streets of Hollywood and leaves him for dead. The two meet 26 years later while giving a presentation together at the Museum of Tolerance. This is a story of forgiveness.
