Liz Saint John interviews three guests every Sunday morning covering a variety of issues and topics. She talks with representatives from Bay Area non-profit organizations, documentary filmmakers, authors, and professors.
1. Meals on Wheels of San Francisco Executive Director Ashley McCumber explains how and what they serve their homebound seniors every day of the year. He also talks about the importance of the volunteers who visit the seniors on a regular basis to make sure they’re safe and stay connected with others. Nancy Oakes, chef-owner of Boulevard and Prospect and chef chair of the Star Chefs and Vintners Gala to benefit Meals on Wheels of San Francisco, talks about the importance of giving back to the local community.
2. San Francisco Art Institute President Charles Desmarais talks about the history of the school, the famous alumni and faculty, including John Gutzon Borglum, Annie Leibowitz, Kathryn Bigelow, and Ansel Adams, the current undergraduate and graduate programs, and the gala to benefit the school’s scholarship fund.
3. Emiliana Simon-Thomas, the Science Director at the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, talks about their ongoing work on the study of human emotions, mindfulness, altruism, compassionate parenting, their fellowship program, and the June 7th conference on compassion.
