The Neighbourhood loves hip hop. Vocalist Jesse Rutherford has talked about his rap influences in the past many times, but the new tape just further illustrates his point.
Their new mixtape, #000000 & #FFFFFF, will be out later this year, but in the meantime, they’ve released four tracks from it. The most recent release, which literally just dropped but isn’t yet on the site, is called “Jealou$y” and includes rappers Casey Veggies and Berkeley rapper 100s. You can get three tracks that are downloadable here at Live Mixtapes.
“#000000 & #FFFFFF is a diary of songs that are inspired by our thoughts while on the road. It exposes our anxiety, rejoices in our achievement and expresses our ability to create whatever the f*** we want,” Rutherford says. “It’s our freedom to explore popular music as we know it. It’s not us as a band… it’s us as a sound.”
The Neighbourhood will come to Oakland in July for a couple shows at the Fox.
