While we sort of wish The Neighbourhood would just hurry up and drop the mixtape that is #OOOOOO & #FFFFFF, parceling them out in fragmented pieces sure adds something to the suspense.
The newest cut, called ‘warm’, features the up-and-coming Raury, a multi-genre songwriter with a flare for the dramatic and an interest in every genre from neo-R&B to folk to rap.
The new song cuts out on a false ending, leaving Raury spitting rolling spirals over the stout bass and dense beat.
There are bell tolls and it weighs on you like a dirge, but that’s the dark appeal of The Neighbourhood.
