Is part of the favorite Mission locale Dolores Park about to reopen this month?
According to an Uptown Almanac tipster, it is.
The northern section of the park was closed March 1, 2014 to undergo renovations and was due to reopen earlier this year, until park workers found “excessive ground water” that needed immediate attention. Now, the north side section is rumored to open June 18.
However, as the park is currently immersed in a bid to encourage park visitors to keep the area clean, we’re guessing that may be its main objective.
Earlier this spring, after city officials became concerned by the amount of trash flooding the park, police officials took action, giving citations to rule-breakers who brought glass into the space and others who left garbage in their stead. Park-goers have since called weekend cleanup crew “heroes“, while others promote a new system for keeping the grounds litter-free.
