Damon Albarn was having so much fun headlining the Roskilde festival in Denmark last night (July 5) that he wouldn’t leave the stage. So, security removed him.
According to BBC, Albern had to be carried off stage after playing a 5-hour set with his project Africa Express, a collaboration between African and Western musicians, where he sang covers of Randy Newman songs and reinterpreted tracks from his band Gorillaz. Despite special guests like singer Laura Mvula and Yeah Yeah Yeah‘s Nick Zinner, the festival wanted him to call it a night. It was 4 a.m. after all.
But Albarn wasn’t having it.
Albarn started egging on the crowd to keep things going, asking them to chant “We want more,” which they did.
