Dave Grohl’s Doctor Steals the Show at Boston Foo Fighters Concert

by Jay Tilles

The surprise hit of Sunday’s Foo Fighters show in Boston was not Dave Grohl singing from the throne or his Cars or Van Halen covers, it was the fact that his doctor performed a song, and blew everyone away.

As Foo Fighters fans know, Grohl enjoys a guest or two on stage at their shows. At their Citi Field show in New York last week for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith took over drums for Taylor Hawkins for a cover of Faces‘ classic rock hit “Stay With Me.”

But Sunday’s performance was a bit unique. Grohl’s orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lew Schon, joined the band on stage at Fenway Park in to sing the White Stripes‘ “Seven Nation Army.” And this wasn’t just a couple lyrics followed by a bow and applause. Schon sang the entire song and had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

“Holy s***, that’s actually my doctor. What a badass,” Grohl says as applause subsides.
