In a few weeks, Doe Eye will receive the keys to a Chevrolet Cruze for a road trip that will take her from her hometown of San Francisco to Las Vegas. She will perform live Friday night, May 18 at a “Battle of the Bands” competition before an audience of thousands. The winner, selected by a panel of Billboard celebrity judges, will perform Sunday, May 20 as part of the nationally televised 2012 Billboard Music Awards. Menace had a chance to get her on the phone to talk about it. Find out what went down and how it all happened.

It lingers in the background, being played at gentle volumes in restaurants, elevators, gyms, etc. That’s what Eric Frederic of Hyphy R&B satire act Wallpaper wanted to address. Slinging CDRs and rocking house parties, Wallpaper has become a gold plated name in the San Francisco Bay Area underground.
